I just ordered the ZeroFive 33 foot multi-band antenna and the SG-230 coupler.  They'll be here in a week or so.  This's an easy way to drop a grand...

I talked to the XYL, W7HYT, today about starting to order the antennas, coax and etc. for my new antennas and she said go ahead.  Here we go.....

Here I am at the start of a new year and I have no antennas up.  The only way I can get on the air is mobile.

I'm in the process of moving.  We have purchased a new house in Myrtle Point Oregon and are painting, replacing carpet and other things new home owners do.  I guess I don't have my priorities on right because the things for the house are taking priority over ham radio.

Not everything is for the house, however.  We had an electrician in to do some re-wiring and I had him install a 12"x12" box in the wall of the ham shack room with two runs of 2" conduit into the crawl space under the house.  I plan to terminate my coax in the box at feed through connectors and use jumpers to the radios.   I mentioned to the electrician of my need for wire and he sold me, at cost, 250 feet of 4 gage bare solid copper and 500 feet of insulated solid copper.  My lucky day.

The plan at this time is to install a ZeroFive 33 foot multi-band vertical in the back yard for HF.  I plan to use the SG-230 Smartuner antenna coupler with the antenna.

For VHF/UHF I'm looking at the Diamond X501HDN antenna.  With 8.3/11.7 DB gain, I should be able to reach out to those repeaters on the edge.

More to follow as time goes on.
